Internet of Things (IoT). The IoT describes the network – “things” – that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of collecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the internet. IoT is a form of AI. On a city scale, AI can improve overall energy efficiency by incorporating data from smart meters and the IoT (computing devices embedded in everyday objects that enable them to send and receive data) to forecast and predict city energy demand.
